Against CHOGM(Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting) in Sri Lanka :
Thiagu’s indefinite hunger strike continues on second day

The nine demands putforth by Thiagu are; 

1. a) The Sinhalese state of Sri Lanka, which stands accused of the crime for genocide, should be expelled from the commonwealth.

b) The CHOGM slated to be held in November 2013 should not be held in Colombo

c) If at all the CHOGM meets in Colombo, the heads of government, particularly the Prime minister of the India, should not attend the same.

2. a) The government of India should not supply war ships to Sri Lanka as planned. Nor should it supply any other war equipment.

b) In no part of India should the Sri Lankan armed personnel be given any kind of training.

3. The agreements for India to supply electricity by undersea cables should be immediately scrapped.

4. In order to save the fishermen of Tamil Nadu from being killed and harassed by the Sri Lankan navy, a Tamil Nadu fishermen defence force consisting of fishermen youth should be formed and given necessary equipment and training.

5. The agreements between the government of India and the government of Sri Lanka with regard to the island of Katchattheevu signed in 1974 and 1976 should be annulled and India should retrieve the Island which is an integral part of Tamil Nadu and hand it over to the latter.

6. a) The special camps for Sri Lankan Tamil Refugees in Tamil Nadu should be immediately closed.

b) India should sign the 1951 Geneva Convention and the 1967 Protocol on the Rights of Refugees.

c) The model law on the rights of refugees drafted by the justice P.N.Bagawati committee should be placed before parliament and enacted.

d) The Sri Lankan Tamil refugees should be given temporary Indian citizenship, so that they are treated on par with the citizens of India.

e) The government of India and the government of Tamil Nadu should completely respect the economic, civil and political rights of the people of Tamil Eezham living in Tamil Nadu.

f) No Sri Lankan Tamil refugee should be returned to Sri Lanka or expelled from India against his/her will.

7. Perarivalan, Santhan and Murugan who have been convicted and sentenced to death and Nalini, Robert Payas , Jeyakumar and Ravichandran convicted and sentenced to life, in the Rajiv Gandhi murder case, should be immediately released in view of the fact that these seven have spent more than 20 years in prison.

8. As per the resolution adopted on 27th March 2013 by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly reflecting the unanimous demand of the world Tamils,

a) An independent international investigation should be instituted about the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Sinhalese government of Rajapaksa against the people of Tamil Eezham.

b) An international protective mechanism should be provided to prevent the continuing structural genocide of the people of Tamil Eezham.

c) A referendum should be held among the Sri Lankan Tamil people in their homeland and in the Diaspora in order to determine the future of Tamil Eezham.

9. The government of India should give effect to the resolution of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, calling for the economic embargo on the government of Sri Lanka to make it accept the demands of the Tamil people.
